Athletic performance and chiropractic go hand and hand. Many professional athletes rely on chiropractic care to assist in the body’s natural healing processes and to optimize overall function. The nervous system is the master control system of the entire body. Spinal imbalances, caused by athletic demands and injury have, negative affects on normal muscle and organ function.

Athletes count on the function of their bodies to help them perform at peak levels. Studies have shown that athletes who receive regular chiropractic spinal adjustments react faster, execute fine movements with improved accuracy and precision, and have better co-ordination, all in all, amounting to an overall better athlete.

The following Olympic and professional athletes, understand the importance of, and benefit from, regular chiropractic care: Emmitt Smith, a football star from the Dallas Cowboys has this to say: “I started doing this about four or five years ago,” Smith said. “I believe that what I’m doing is what helps me go on. I think Warren Moon, (Seattle’s 41 year old quarter back) does the same thing. So I’ve become a big believer in servicing my body and making sure it is lined up properly and functioning the way it is supposed to on Sunday.”

Smith joins an ever-growing list of Olympic and professional athletes who regularly receive chiropractic adjustments. Cyclist Lance Armstrong, speed skater Derek Parra, former world’s fastest man Donovan Bailey, home run king Barry Bonds, and pro golfer Tiger Woods, are just a few athletes turned on to better body function with chiropractic. Dan O’Brien even credits Chiropractic for helping him win the Olympic Gold Medal.

During a recent NBA basketball finals, star players Scotty Pippin, and John Stockton were among those who received chiropractic care during breaks in the sixth and final game of the championship series. World heavyweight champion boxer Evander Holyfield has been under care for years and regularly receives adjustments during training as well as immediately prior to his fights. Roger Craig, formerly of the San Francisco 49’ers, stated, “We won four Super Bowls in the 1980’s with it, so it must be doing something right!”

These athletes and many more recognize the importance of a subluxation free body for maximum performance and health. Our children deserve the best as well. Whether our children participate in sport activity for fun or are part of the athletic world for competition, regular chiropractic care for healing and athletic performance are a winning combination!
